The six Standing Committees of the Wintonbury Historical Society are Acquisitions, Education/Research, Membership, Nominating, Program and Properties. A seventh committee Financial Development is responsible for developing our fundraising programs. Other committees are set up as needed by the President. At present these include the Newsletter and Website committees.
We are always looking for new members for these committees. If you are interested in serving on any of these committees to help with their function within the Society, please contact the

Aquisitions
The Acuisitions Committee is responsible for all aspects of the Society’s historical artifacts.

Education/Research
The Education/Research Committee is currently the liason between the Historical Society and the Schools of Bloomfield to promote interest in the history of the Town of Bloomfield. This committee is also actively working on preservation of information regarding the historic cemeteries of Bloomfield.

Financial Development Committee
The Financial Development Committee is responsible for developing the Society’s fundraising programs including the major capital campaign that is currently in progress to fund the rehabilitation of the Captain Oliver Filley House.

Membership
Newsletter
The Newsletter is published 5 times a year in January, March, May, August and October. We are always looking for material for the Newsletter. Please go to the Newsletter page to see the deadlines
and where to send your articles.

Nominating
The Nominating Committee prepares the slate of Officers and Directors that is presented at the Annual Membership Meeting in June.

The Program Committee is responsible for arranging programs for our regular membership meetings.

Properties
The Properties Committee is composed of the Chairman from the two subcommittees having responsibility for the care and development of our three properties. One subcommittee is responsible for the Old Farm School and a second subcommittee (the Umbrella Committee) takes care of matters relating to the Captain Oliver Filley House and
the Southwest District School. The Properties Committee was preceeded by the Building Committee which was disbanded when the Properties Committee was added to the By-Laws as a Standing Committee.
