Old Wintonbury Cemetery, located on Tunxis Avenue, just beyond the Congregational Church is
one of Bloomfield's historic cemeteries. The Latimer Hill Cemetery, just off from Latimer Lane,
is another. These burial grounds have interesting and historic tales to tell. They date back to the Revolutionary War and many of the old Bloomfield families are buried there.
Recently, several people have shown interest in these burying grounds, so a
meeting was held on Thursday, October 24, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Congregational Church on Wintonbury Avenue. At this meeting we began to organize our thoughts and concerns regarding the historic cemeteries of Bloomfield. If you are interested in these cemeteries plan to join us at a future meeting.
